Wedding Videography at Middleton Lodge
There are wedding venues that look incredible in photographs, and then there are venues that seem to have been designed with wedding films in mind.
Middleton Lodge is one of those places.
Set in the beautiful North Yorkshire countryside near Richmond, Middleton Lodge combines the character and elegance of a historic country estate with an unmistakably luxurious, modern feel. From the moment you arrive, there is something about the place that feels special.
As a wedding videographer, it is genuinely a dream to work here.
A luxury wedding venue that has it all
Middleton Lodge manages to strike that difficult balance between luxury and warmth. It feels incredibly refined without ever feeling cold or overly formal.
The Main House is particularly spectacular. The beautiful Georgian architecture, elegant reception rooms, sweeping staircase and carefully considered interiors provide an incredible setting for the morning preparations and indoor wedding ceremonies.
And for me, filming the preparations here is a real highlight.
There is something incredibly cinematic about capturing a bride or groom getting ready in such beautiful surroundings. The natural light, the architecture, the textures, the little details and the sense of anticipation all combine to create footage that feels luxurious and intimate at the same time.
The Main House also gives couples the option of having their ceremony indoors, including the beautiful Drawing Room and Main Hall, meaning that even if the Yorkshire weather decides not to cooperate, there is no compromise on atmosphere or beauty.
The gardens are absolutely mind-blowing
But then you step outside...
The landscaped gardens at Middleton Lodge are something else.
The Walled Gardens and surrounding estate provide an incredible variety of backdrops for wedding films. From the beautifully manicured gardens and architectural features to the surrounding Yorkshire countryside, there seems to be another incredible angle around every corner.
Honestly, it is difficult to get a bad shot here.
As a filmmaker, that is a dream.
Whether I'm capturing a couple walking through the gardens, newlyweds taking a quiet moment together, confetti, group photographs, candid guest interactions or those beautiful golden-hour moments later in the day, Middleton Lodge gives me an extraordinary amount to work with.
The two-acre Walled Gardens, redesigned by landscape designer Tom Stuart-Smith, sit alongside the contemporary Fig House, creating a really special combination of historic surroundings and modern architecture.
The gardens aren't simply somewhere to take a few photographs after the ceremony. They become part of the story of the wedding day.
Indoor or outdoor — and beautiful either way
One of the things I love about Middleton Lodge is the choice it gives couples.
You can have an indoor wedding ceremony in the Main House or Fig House, or choose to make the most of the incredible grounds with an outdoor ceremony.
That flexibility is fantastic from a wedding-film perspective because it allows the day to have its own personality.
You might begin with bridal preparations in the luxurious Main House, capture an emotional indoor ceremony, head outside into the gardens for drinks and couple portraits, and then move through to the Fig House for the wedding breakfast and evening celebrations.
Or you can make the most of the gardens from the very beginning.
There are so many ways to structure the day, and Middleton Lodge's experienced wedding team works with couples to create celebrations that feel personal rather than following a rigid formula. The venue offers the Main House with Garden Marquee, the Walled Gardens with Fig House, or the option to take both event spaces.
And then there's the team...
A beautiful venue is one thing.
A beautiful venue with an exceptional team is something else entirely.
This is another reason Middleton Lodge is such a pleasure to film at.
The wedding team are incredibly professional, attentive and organised, and there is a real sense that they genuinely care about making the day perfect for the couple.
That isn't just my experience either. Recent couples repeatedly praise the team for making their weddings feel seamless and stress-free, with reviews describing the coordination as faultless and the staff as exceptional, professional and attentive. One recent couple said they didn't have to think about the timeline at all because the team ensured everything happened seamlessly and without fuss.
Another 2026 couple described the team as an absolute joy and praised the way they took so much of the stress away, allowing the wedding day to flow seamlessly.
That's incredibly important to me as a videographer.
When the venue team know exactly what they're doing, everyone is relaxed, the timeline flows and I can concentrate on what I am there to do — capturing the moments that matter.
A wedding venue built for beautiful films
From a filmmaking perspective, Middleton Lodge has almost everything I could ask for.
Luxury interiors.
Beautiful natural light.
Historic architecture.
Incredible landscaped gardens.
Yorkshire countryside.
Indoor and outdoor ceremony options.
Beautiful accommodation for getting ready.
The Fig House.
The Walled Gardens.
And an experienced team who understand how to make a wedding day flow.
There is visual variety everywhere.
One minute I'm capturing the quiet anticipation of preparations in the Main House. The next I'm outside filming a couple walking through the gardens, before moving into the Fig House for speeches, dinner and the celebrations.
It means the finished wedding film can have so many different moods — elegant, romantic, emotional, cinematic, fun and completely personal.
And because the surroundings are so beautiful, I never feel like I'm searching for a good backdrop.
They're everywhere.
A venue I genuinely can't fault
I've filmed at a lot of wedding venues, and I don't say this lightly:
Middleton Lodge is so close to perfect that I genuinely struggle to think of a way to fault it.
It has the luxury, the character, the architecture, the gardens, the accommodation, the food, the flexibility and — perhaps most importantly — the people.
Even the reviews from couples and guests reflect that. Words and phrases that repeatedly come up include “flawless,” “faultless,” “breathtaking,” “immaculate grounds,” “exceptional staff,” “seamless,” “luxury,” “beautiful,” “outstanding” and “the best day.”
One recent bride described staying at the Farmhouse before the wedding as a “total dream” for getting ready, particularly praising the gorgeous surroundings and natural light for hair and makeup.
Another couple who married in 2025 described Middleton Lodge as the epitome of “quiet luxury”, praising the venue, staff and wedding team for making their experience perfect.
And I completely understand why.
Why I love filming weddings at Middleton Lodge
For me, Middleton Lodge isn't just another beautiful wedding venue.
It's a filmmaker's dream.
Every part of the estate gives me something different to capture, from the anticipation of getting ready in the Main House to the emotion of an indoor ceremony, the incredible landscaped gardens, the laughter of guests wandering around the estate, the beautiful Yorkshire countryside and the energy of the evening celebrations.
The setting is extraordinary.
The team are brilliant.
The attention to detail is obvious.
And the whole place has a sense of luxury that comes across beautifully on film.
If you're getting married at Middleton Lodge and you're looking for a wedding videographer who knows the venue, loves filming there and wants to capture not just what your wedding looked like but what it actually felt like, I'd love to hear from you.
Because if I could choose a venue to film at again and again, Middleton Lodge would be very high on that list.
It's not just a stunning place to get married.
It's an absolute dream to film.
